Their 2021 debut full length album Visions, “is about the duality of reminiscing (living in the past) and wishing (living in the future). I think everyone participates in both of these myself included so I wanted to write about it,” confides Elijah. With a vivacious pop punk delivery, psych-drenched emotive rock soundscapes, Visions received critical and commercial acclaim leading to a fervent local fanbase. Leading single includes "She's Not Yours" "chronicles the powerless feeling of casual love.
With themes of jealousy, regret, and reminiscence and an inspiration musically from The Strokes," proclaims Elijah. With the single "Everything That's Mine", Foxtide crafts an autobiographical tune all about living through your teenage years wasting time on faulty love interests. Sonic inspirations including Sublime and Fugzi penetrate "Everything That's Mine" for a captivating Reggae rock infused listen. Grammy award-winning Jazz producer Kamau Kenyatta makes an appearance on the standout track "Ocean Blue" on another intoxicating offering from the surf Jazz meets garage rock album Visions.
With their latest single “Already Gone”, Foxtide touches on themes such as isolation, boredom and living in a relentless routine while following the story and internal dialogue of a man who is led to follow societal norms. Incorporating the band member’s experiences of mindlessly working dead end jobs and feeling as though they are wasting their time, “Already Gone” is an autobiographical account of the hardships of getting by. Combining 80’s new wave inspired sonics with early 2000’s NYC indie rock landscapes, “Already Gone” harnesses a melancholic yet enthralling musical journey.
With inspirations such as Tame Impala, The Strokes, The Beatles, The Police, The Beach Boys, and King Krule Foxtide takes their own music to new depths, creating an experimental sound that is equally familiar. With a thrilling live show to boot, Foxtide is a band on the rise.DIFFUSION SEPTEMBER, 27, 2022
