GHO$$ Share Debut Album The Whitest Blackout and New Video for "666"
Jakarta alt-pop/trip-hop band GHO$$ have released their long-awaited debut album, The Whitest Blackout, alongside the video for "666", a striking visual exploring the inner battle between reason and personal demons.
Blending atmospheric electronics, dark pop, trip-hop, indie rock, and hip-hop influences, the band's 12-track debut reflects on grief, heartbreak, addiction, resilience, and healing. Conceived as the counterpart to their 2017 EP The Blackest Whiteout, the album moves from darkness toward hope and acceptance.
Originally written in 2017, the record faced years of delays due to health issues, the COVID-19 pandemic, and the passing of founding guitarist Diego Aditya in 2024. Completed with a DIY approach, The Whitest Blackout stands as both a tribute to the band's journey and a powerful statement of renewal.
The Whitest Blackout is out now via GHO$$BUMPS on all major digital platforms.

akarta alt-pop trip-hop band GHO$$ have released their debut full-length album 'The Whitest Blackout', along with the video for '666', which explores the daily conflict between reason and the inner demons we all carry. This visual exploration, directed by Mellow Splice, delves into themes of despair, inner conflict, and our own internal warring. Rather than portraying good and evil as external forces, '666' suggests that the outcome of these battles is ultimately determined by how we choose to respond.
The film's striking visual language is elevated through the cinematography of Moses Sihombing and Hafizh Armynazrie, who emphasize the tension between darkness and light, creating a haunting contrast that mirrors the psychological struggle at the heart of the story. Shot at Rossi Musik, one of Jakarta's most legendary live music venues, the setting adds an unmistakable rawness and authenticity, grounding the video's symbolic narrative within an iconic space that is deeply rooted in Indonesia's underground music culture."
Formed in Jakarta in 2014 by Muhammed Diegoshefa Dilanegara (vocals & keys), Diego Aditya (guitar & vocals), Dhemo Anugerah Putra (bass), Thotinius Sinambela (drums, keys & percussion) and Muhammad Indirwan (guitar), GHO$$ have forged a distinctive sound that incorporates atmospheric electronics, dark pop, trip-hop, indie rock and hip-hop-inspired rhythms into songs that are both cinematic and emotionally charged. The group is made up of
The band transmutes nearly a decade of grief, uncertainty, and resilience into an emotionally charged body of work that ultimately finds hope in the aftermath of darkness. Exploring the tension between darkness and light, vulnerability and resilience, 'The Whitest Blackout' serves as the conceptual antithesis to their 2017 debut EP 'The Blackest Whiteout', shifting its focus from the moment consciousness fades into darkness to the stage where light gradually returns—a metaphor for healing, resilience, and embracing reality after loss and trauma.
Across 12 tracks, GHO$$ take listeners through an intensely personal emotional landscape, beginning with the ambient instrumental 'Train', symbolizing embarkment into this exploration of depression, emotional abuse, addiction, heartbreak, anger, self-destruction, reflection, and ultimately acceptance. Each track forms part of a larger narrative, allowing this album to unfold as a cohesive listening experience from beginning to end.
Deeply personal, the album's themes remain universally relatable. 'Her' confronts depression with unflinching honesty, 'idkdudethissongisawesome' nar
'Break', which features Madukina, reflects on longing for the temporary escape once found through substances while acknowledging that every wound eventually heals. 'My Song 6' channels grief and anger over the sudden loss of a close friend, and '#SADBOYSCLUB' and 'Purple Season' navigate the complexities of love and relationships that inevitably fall apart under the weight of circumstance.

Towards its final chapters, 'Bridges' and 'SAME' shift toward introspection, exploring self-reflection, disappointment, and the realization that everyone carries their own emotional burdens. The album closes with 'Die & Go', a deeply personal tribute to late founding member Diego Aditya, serving as a farewell and a symbol of acceptance, remembrance, and ultimately moving forward.
Mostly written in 2017, the album's release was delayed due to health issues, the COVID-19 pandemic, and the passing of founding guitarist Diego Aditya in 2024. With the addition of guitarist Kazumasa Albert and keyboardist Daniel Clift, GHO$$ completed this album with renewed impetus and a DIY approach, recording and mixing everything themselves. It was then mastered at Slingshot Studio by award-winning engineer Stephan Santoso (Musikimia).
'The Whitest Blackout' is more than the culmination of years towards this long-awaited debut. This is a tale of resurgance, completing a story nearly a decade in the making -- one that documents friendship, loss, mental challenges, heartbreak, perseverance, healing and ultimately, hope. Closing one chapter of their history while opening another, this album stands as both a tribute to everything GHO$$ has endured and a powerful statement of where they are headed next.
'The Whitest Blackout' is out now via the band's own GHO$$BUMPS imprint, available digitally from Apple Music, YouTube Music and Bandcamp.
