Hailing from the slopes of Mount Etna, Sicilian noise rock trio Kōhei unleashes Graphene Cult, the explosive first taste of their upcoming album Everything Looks Real. Following their 2025 debut EP Plunge, this new track delivers a frontal, visceral assault rooted in alternative music.
Inspired by the grunge rawness of Nirvana and the sonic aggression of Metz, Graphene Cult serves an abrasive wall of sound. Underneath the heavy frequencies lies a fierce critique of capitalist alienation and empty corporate promises.
To capture their raw, stage-ready energy, the band recorded a live video at La Casetta Studio, highlighting a thriving Sicilian indie scene. Founded by ex-Tacoma Narrows Bridge Disaster guitarist Andrea Longo alongside Daniele Arcoria and Pietro Santoro, Kōhei channels the liberating chaos of Idles. Turn the volume up: this is the soundtrack to a collapsing modern world.

G
raphene Cult is the first taste of Everything Looks Real, the album Kōhei have just completed, which follows the EP Plunge (February 2025).
It's a song with a frontal and visceral impact, rooted in the urgency of noise rock and alternative music. Inspired by the grunge rawness of Nirvana and the sonic aggression of bands like Metz, it's an abrasive wall of sound that mirrors dark, paranoid, and deeply disillusioned lyrics.
At the heart of the narrative is a fierce critique of alienation and the false promises of salvation of the capitalist production model ("They're gonna tell you about this very cool secret / It's going to fix whatever they pretended wasn't there").
the passion for live music and from the desire to offer the public an authentic listening experience
The song explores the claustrophobic feeling of being reduced to a mere instrument, sacrificing our body and emotions for empty profits and hidden agendas ("Blood and bones for vapid gains").
The video for Graphene Cult was shoot at La Casetta Studio (@live_from_casetta). The choice to focus on live video production was born from the passion for live music and from the desire to offer the public an authentic listening experience, free of digital artifices and faithful to the energy of the stage. Casetta Studio is giving visibility to a Sicilian music scene that appears alive and very inspired.
Born on the slopes of the Etna volcano in the summer of 2024, Kōhei carry a profound restlessness and an energy made of stark contrasts imprinted in their DNA.
Andrea Longo (vocals and guitar), back home after living for a long while in the United Kingdom, where he played in the post-metal band Tacoma Narrows Bridge Disaster, wanted to form a power trio with a direct approach, as a refusal of long instrumental compositions.
The trio was definitely born when, at a Mogwai concert in the stunning setting of the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento.
Thus he met Daniele Arcoria (bass) and together they began to develop a new sound, laying the foundations for what will become the Kōhei project. The trio was definitely born when, at a Mogwai concert in the stunning setting of the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento. Andrea crossed paths with Pietro Santoro (drums).
In February 2025 they released their first self-produced EP Plunge. The tracks are a true exploration of the sound palette and styles that characterize the band's compositions from then on.
Since then their live activity has grown and become an essential part of the group's identity, including a performance at the top venue Zō in Catania in June 2026.
Kōhei's sound feeds on the roars of the earth, constantly oscillating between rhythmic frenzy and dense reverberations, creating a sound ecosystem as claustrophobic as it is explosive.
It's a physical and material sound, an assault that tears the space and recalls the frontal and abrasive impact of the Metz, to then flow into the ritualistic and liberating chaos typical of Idles' attitude.
