The newest release, Attention is the lead single from their second EP due out this Summer. Its electronic, catchy energy stirs you with digital dance fuelled nostalgia.
“This song started tongue in cheek, just a reminder to extricate ourselves from the digital dimension for some analogue human love time. I had read this quote which struck a chord with me, “Attention is the rarest and purest form of generosity” which I later found was attributed to Simone Weil, the radical French Philosopher, activist and mystic. She’s written a whole treatise on the idea of ‘Attention’, truth, grace and metamorphosis and I delved a bit more into some of these ideas on the other EP tracks.” - Hannah Moule
This track is about human communion, the only thing that will get us through this Existathon. Moulettes bring a big joyful playfulness in this track, cheeky references to their favourite sounds delving into the musical time machine from 50’s doo wop to 60’s psychedelic flare and some 80’s bombast amalgamated in to one maximalist sandwich. Alongside cheeky synth hooks and dreamy strings, Dr. Lee Westwood drops in for an epic guitar solo that sounds like a titan ripping the fabric of reality. This is a song to bring to the party.
The Moulettes have had support from all over the world, with praise and appreciation in the parallel worlds of Folk, Prog and Indie. Key supporters include BBC 6 Music, BBC Radio 2, The Independent, MOJO, The Guardian, PROG Magazine, Music Week, Metro and The Evening Standard. As they reinvent and reimagine themselves at every stage with a revolving cast of exceptional musicians, Moulettes music is always distinctively recognisable.
Since their formation at Glastonbury Festival 2002, the ever-evolving collective Moulettes have forged an uncommon course. Over the years, The Moulettes have become an extended family tree, a musical ecosystem with tentacles in London, Manchester, Brighton, Bristol, Berlin, Montreal and more. From the avant-folk of their early albums to cinematic orchestral arrangements and big riffs, this is a band who put creativity at the heart of everything they do.
With touring schedules interrupted, the band will present the 55 pieces of music digitally, divided into 11 EPs, released once a month. The Patreon subscribers will decide what goes on vinyl when the band are allowed to start touring again in March 2021. Click here for more information.
