Following her most recent release ‘Seriously?’, which captured listeners with its introspective commentary, Toronto singer-songwriter Maya Malkin keeps the ball rolling with new single ‘Hypocrite’, which will be released 25th of March 2022.

As a rising force to be reckoned with, the young pop prodigy is recognized for her brutally honest lyrics packaged in a glossy pop production. With its addictively catchy melodies steeped in mature lyricism, ‘Hypocrite’ effortlessly builds a bridge between the space of accessible, mainstream pop and deeper, serious emotional storytelling. 

When speaking on the new single, Maya said “This one is like the breaking point. It pretty much starts from the beginning of the end of the relationship, and takes you to the ultimate end, where I’ve hit peak frustration. So it’s really the angsty climax of the whole story, where I've had more than I could take, and had to call it what it was. It’s more on the rock end of the spectrum, which is really fun, and just drives the point home even more – it’s very guitar-driven, and aggressive; similar to Congratulations, but cranked up a notch. This is another song that’s super therapeutic to me, and I think it will be for a lot of other people, too.”

Following ‘Hypocrite’, Maya will also be releasing her first debut album, which offers sounds of victory and healing as she powerfully navigates coming out on the other end of an abusive relationship. 

Maya has performed at Festival du Voyageur, Canadian Music Week, On A Roll Records and SXSW, in addition to being featured on Virgin Radio and CBC. She has garnered support from Spotify, Apple and Tidal, while also dabbling in the world of commercial jingle writing. 

‘Hypocrite’ is out the 25th of March 2022, awaiting the release of Maya Malkin’s forthcoming debut album.
