CELEBRATE THEIR FRIENDSHIP
WITH THE RELEASE OF A SPLIT-EP

Some might argue that fierce competition and the cut-throat mindset are what drives the engine that is the “business of music”. Though, there are at least two bands that would try to convince you otherwise! This fall, Dutch indie-rockers Snow Coats and emo/pop-punkers Bony Macaroni are celebrating their friendship through the release of a ‘Bony Macaroni/Snow Coats’ Split-EP.

“We were just basically hanging out. Ya know, having a couple beers together, when we started talking about doing a split.”, says Stefan, singer of Bony Macaroni. Anouk, Snow Coats’ front woman, chimes in: “Yeah, most of us live in the same city (Arnhem), we had already played a couple shows together, and we were already planning to do a small run of shows, here in The Netherlands”.

While the ‘Split-EP’ is a well-known phenomenon in the UK and USA, Dutch bands rarely joining forces this way. ‘A real shame’ according to both bands, as they all consider making art a collaborative effort by default. After the release of new singles by both bands on September 7th, the full 4-song split is out now.

The two bands agreed that it would be interesting to not just release a new track, but also to cover a song by the other band. “Favorite Dutch band HANDS DOWN! The year ‘If it wasn’t me…’ (Snow Coats’ 2nd full-length) dropped, it dominated our Spotify Wrapped playlists, so we had some difficulty picking a favorite”, according to the Bony Macaroni front man.

Anouk: “We were such groupies of Bony Macaroni, even before we met. Every song they write is a hit so picking one was really hard too. We decided that Hollow was a song that would fit the best with our style and I could really find myself in Stefan’s lyrics. So, we decided to cover ‘Hollow’ and they decided to cover ‘Chevy’”.

The EP itself is not the only collaborative effort, but so is the release for which record labels Redfield Records (Germany) and Alcopop! Records (UK) are joining forces.
