On the eve of their first tour in England, The Backlash - one of the cult bands of the italogaze scene for years now - deliver their interpretation of a classic of neo-psychedelia, Anemone by Brian Jonestown Massacre.

Why this song?

"Anemone is one of the few songs that aren't ours that we decided to bring to the live shows. We've never played covers, not even at the beginning, but with this song it was different. It's part of our musical DNA: each of us knows it by heart, almost carved into the subconscious, so much that playing it has always come naturally.

When we included it in the setlist, we didn't worry about distorting it, but neither about reproposing it identically. The drumming groove, the distorted rhythms and the guitar and bass lines came out without thinking too much, playing it as if it were one of our songs.

It's a song that has always inspired us, and it has become a fixed moment of our live shows, also for the connection it creates with the audience. We like to ask: 'Who among you knows The Brian Jonestown Massacre?', because it tells us a lot about who we have in front of us."
